We have learned over the last few years what markers are the most reliable for us when we play UWL. They are a great marker. We do have a few people that shoot the Luxe and the Dm but for the most part it's PE!!!
They are one of the most reliable and air efficent guns out there. We have a few BL, some Dye guns, and a random other few amongst our team. But over all we all still love our egos!

Overall the eclipse guns are great. Are they my favorite? No. But the reliability and air efficiency of my 09 make it my favorite for woods ball especially playing UWL where I need the +15 pods a game. Not to mention the ergos of the 09. They are better than any stacked tube poppet I've shot.
I don't like bob long himself so I don't but his stuff, I don't like empire so no axe for me, I don't like dangerous powers, dye doesn't make a poppet. I thought about a creed but didn't like the finish. That really only leaves eclipse, fantastic support, great products, they give a lot back to the industry and sponsor the more teams than nearly all the companies put together.
I do love spoolies with I'm playing speedball where I can fill up after every game. The DM is my favorite, I don't think I've shot a luxe to compare but I really like the ultra light frame. But the spoolies don't have the efficency and they are tempatue sensitive. Too cold and they won't work.
I gotcha, I know when I was playing recently a guy with a Reflex Rail was complaining about having to fill up every game with his 45/4500. That's a lot of air... I can't imagine trying to do that out in a place without a compressor and just a scuba.
As for stacked tube poppets, have you looked at Alien? The new one feels like older Ego ergonomics but it's low pressure and hoseless. It's a small company so it'll be hard to track anyone down to do a test shoot but they had them at NPPL Vegas last year.
I personally think KEE is a really good company, sure they have a bit of a monopoly but if you need to have your Axe or even a old Mini serviced they'll do it for free. If you send in a older Ego to PE will they put in a new reg or even solenoid? I didn't go with a Axe since I wanted something different and something I can pull apart and work on.
PE Doesnt warrenty parts on older guns. I replaced a solenoid on a guys gun, and i had to order it. Very seldom do they go bad though. With proper maintence and cleaning they will last forever! My old 08 has seen nearly 200 cases, and besides a couple O rings and a torn QEV Diphram it has never let me down.

I don't know that alien paintball is even around anymore. they went thru hell after lying to everyone stating that their guns "due to the bolt design their guns shoot flatter" which is tested quite a bit and was debunked when the gun was shot upside down and showed the same accuracy as it did right side up thus proving that his marketing gimick was false. BUT when confonted about it he got all defensive and angry and stood by his statement. Although he did stop marketing is "the flattest shooting marker"
why would i want to buy a gun from a small company that has a higher chance of going out of buisness?
I know that the axe is a good marker but it just don't like it. probably because it's the mini's big brother and that was freakishly small for my hands.
I love planet eclipse because their stuff just works. I've never heard one of their regs going bad though. My friend has a 05' ego that still works great. not as smooth as the new ones but still kicks butt.
Ah, yeah, you got a point about Alien but I always found them a bit interesting. A lot of markers are still around even though the company goes out of business or in limbo (quest, legend, even gog is servicing sp markers)
The Axe is a good amount bigger than the Mini but you still don't want to wrap your hand around the foregrip due to it being the same Mini designed trigger guard. I know my Vice has it where I can wrap my hand around the reg and that adds a different erognomic feeling to it. The only gripe I've seen with the Axe is the trigger is a bit stiff for my taste but I haven't gotten around to shoot it in anger (playing).
Next time we meet up we can swap markers for a game or two if you're up for it.
Alien is still around. They were in D.C for the convention. He has the same sales pitch as the did 2 years ago at NPPL worlds. I wish him luck. One of the kids @ Vegas Xtreme bought one. I have not seen him use it yet to ask him what he thinks of it.
