I found a site on the net here a while back ago and am now hooked. They Build 1:6 scale tanks (Tigers, Panzers, Abrams, ect) out of plywood, sheet metal, and plexiglass. The cool part is that they stuff them with electric motors and a paintball gun in the turret, then proceed to battle each other out in a massilve war. I have already started on building 2 M4A3E8 Sherman tanks of my own and I was wondering if anyone else likes the idea too. Visit www.rctankcombat.com for more info about rules, regulations, and building techniques. Visit www.rctankcombat.com/tanks/ to see individual tanks that have already been built and played. Visit http://www.rctankcombat.com/battle-reports/Gettysburg2008/ for combat videos. What do you think.
Anyone interested in joining me in "tanking"? I am building 2 tanks right now and possibly a 3rd. I'm willing to build one for you if you like of any make and model you want. It's not cheep for the components, but should be worth every penny.
Naaa... thats the fun part, building it! Goodluck though, post up some pictures when your done. I'm sure we'd all like to see what will be shooting at us lol
I've begun the building of my first 2 tanks. They are M4 Shermans (WWII era), but only the bottom half of the hull is constructed. More progress is soon to follow. Check for new pics soon.
I have the upper hull done now, nearly done anyhow. A cover plate on front will be added later, as to allow easy access for motor repairs and maintaince.
Gotten a bit more work done. The suspension was complicated and no less than 40 wheels were made. The pic with the springs is of the idler wheel to keep the tension on the tracks.
The tracks are complete and the tank is nearly running. Electronics are not my strong suit and I am doing my best to try to sort out the kinks. Soon it will be fully operational and mobile. What do you think, is looking like the real thing?
Anyone gonna be at the Mesquite tourny on the 15th? I plan on having the tank there to show off. Hopefully it will be opperational by then, or else it will just be a good looking paper weight.
