IF they paint prices are cheap. but right now they're looking to be $40 so there is no point. If it was something like $25 a case it would make sense because it would be a more attractive to new players that want to give it a try. It would cost less and hurt less, those are two big turn offs why people try it once. Besides i could just buy a new kit from Plant Eclipse and be able to switch from either .50 or .68 pretty quick.

yea but think about it how much it would change the tournament industry. . . . and the only reason it is getting big is because smartparts is trying to get into it with the nano so that they can be a top level producer again.

It's GI milsim thats started the push, GI mil sim and smart parts aren't the same company. GI hired smart parts to produce their guns and it's cheaper to scale smart parts products down then having to redesign a new gun that might not work as well. Smart Parts has a state of the art production line that they could produce good guns with if they tried as we've seen from the luxe.

GI mil sim isn't pushing everone to .50 cal just think of it as another option. which i think is good, the more options the more competitive the market and the better products we'll see and better competitive prices we'll see.

The tournament scene wouldn't change much if at all. There will always be .68 paintball and paintball guns out there. IF teams see the .50 cal as being an advantave then they'll play with it, it could be entirely dependant on the field they are play on.

k think how many people wipe with .68 think how many people will with wipe with this

littler ball=more/easier wipes!

and its gonna cost money for all the conversion kits and that shit then you have to make up for your loses

and thats what the Kingman training pistols are for the new guys just tryin rite

o and smart parts to to try and get to the top again cause the new impulse line didnt sell as hot as they would liked to have

50 cal is just a marketing scheme and they are trying to get everyone hyped up about because new paint means new gear and new gear means more money being spent and what company doesnt like $$$$$$$

A cheater will wipe no matter what caliber paintball it is, if they're a cheater theyre gonna cheat. let them wipe all they want, you just keep shooting till you see that hand come up. If you get to bunker them shoot them in the lense, they can't wipe that or see you to shoot you back.

I say bring on the .50 cal it's not like they're making you buy it, it's not like you have to buy it. Thats the thing YOU DON'T HAVE TO. It's just a option, yes it is a marketing push. But thats what buisness is about. Spyder already has their .50 guns made and soon to be sold (www.spyder50.com) Paintball isn't going to change over night, fields will always carry .68 paintballs you have nothing to be worried about.

.50 cal will bring a new strategy into paintball that we didn't think about before. Which is will teams use .68 which has better range OR use .50 which has a higher capacity? Smaller ball means you'll use less air to propell it. I could also carry more paintballs in my hopper than you could. And don't say thats cheating cause i could do that anyways with my pinokio.

I don't like .50 and i don't hate it. I say let it come and see what happens. How can i make a worthy opinion just from speculation and opinions from others? I will buy a case and try it.

Believe me it won't be tournament standard. It's been a long time that they've been talking about .50 cal but there aren't any guns or paint on the market YET that i know of.

The simple fact of the matter is, is that EVERYONE uses .68 right now and we've been using it for what 15 years or so? What makes you think all of a sudden .68 is going to stop dead? I'm almost certain that tournaments will let you use either caliber for atleast 5 years. In 5 years your gonna want new stuff anyways right? Besides you both have egos right? you'll need a .50 kit which will be what? $75-100? and a new loader, thats another $100. Even if it is in 2 years im sure you'll be able to afford it by then.

50 cal sounds fine. Its already been said that the industry cant switch over and standardize to 50 overnight, and everyone but me buys new guns after a few years anyway. Besides who wouldnt want cheaper ammo, a smaller hopper and still have 200 capacity, or have their air last that much longer. The 50s sound like it would make more sense over all in theory, but 68 aint going anywhere soon.

why change what isnt broken bacially! it would suck cause everyone that just bought thier new ego for $1000 bucks would then have to buy a new gun or a $202 convertion kit.
and it would REALLY suck for kids like me with no $$$ and barely afford the sport as it is

in other words F@%K .50 cal BS

i say both it nice it smaller probably more accurate or just the opposite but then again i like knowing when i get hit bc it quiet frankly embarassing getting called out by a ref plus it more fun when u get hit with the bigger cal bc u can let choice words out by it being smaller though it be better for the newer player to be introduced to but a pain to change everything on the guns. if the paints cheaper by a good amount it alot better but the .68 will be obs

What alot of you younger players don't understand is that skill wins games not the price of your gun. When you go out and spend all of your money on +$1,000 guns it doesn't make you any better of a player all it does is consumes your money that you could be playing paintball with. As long as your gun is reliable, tourney legal, can handle brittle paint your gun is great. A 2005 ego can shoot just the same as a 2010 ego, why? it can handle brittle paint, it's reliable, it can go to 15bps ramping although i hate ramping cause it is for the weak, feeble and the less skilled but im not gonna leave that there cause i could go on about that forever. If you play a game of snap shooting against a pump avid+dedicated pump player chances are you'll probably lose, because pump players depend on their skills more than they do their gun. Snap shooting which is what pump players depend on is a skill, and skills win games. You can't buy skill, you have to earn it thru playing. Go ahead and buy your new+expensive guns it's not gonna make you better.

Why do i endorse .50 cal? Because it will help bring new people into the sport of paintball. If more people start playing more will stick around and this sport of paintball we all love will grow. I hate to tell you all but our sport is dying, it's been slowly dying for years along with the paintball industry. Whats up with this saying "if it aint broke don't fix it" if we stuck to that moto we'd still be living in caves. you'd be riding a horse everywhere. you'd be playing with pump guns still. there wouldn't be an america. the reason we are here today driving, flying around the world, on computers, even playing paintball is because someone said "how can i make that better" evolution is inevitable. .50 will happen and is happening, it's better for the sport.

but you cant just change the industry!

its to unstable to change it! (yes i know what i just said)

it only starting dying this past season because of all the economic hardships that we have faced, and that only proved which companies make quality hit because those are the ones who stayed afloat. and i do not believe that this is going to be for the "good" of the sport it's going to make or break and if it breaks it guess what we're screwed!

Why is everyone scared of .50cal? If you don't want it, don't buy it. I bet tho that the first guy to walk on the field with one is gonna get surronded by everyone else saying "Oooo" and "Ahhh". They will want to try it, and shoot it, and play with it, and a few more will go out and buy it. I've got a Colt .45 at home, but that didn't stop me from getting a Glock 9mm too.

The game ain't gonna change into something that it's not. There will merely be another option in paint and guns. Just wait and see what the Pros and Cons turn out to be after the reviews come out. Until then, nobody has to stay up at night thinking the ATF will come breaking in to confiscate anything of .68cal when a new product shows up. I plan to put off buying my next gun to see what experts say about .50 myself. It just might be better.                                         Or maybe not.

So whats the skinny on the .50? Has there been any legit comparisons yet to say if it just plain sucks or is evey bit as good as the original?
